Why You Should Sell People Away From Your Service

There are times when you need to sell people away from your services or products. In this video, I’ll break down a couple of those reasons and share with you a phone call I had with a potential client.

    This happens a lot with prospective clients because they don't really have a marketing road map. I find that if you can help them come up with a plan, give them referrals to great resources and coach them a little bit, they are very appreciative because everyone else just tries to close the sale. I have ongoing relationships with the majority of my clients and those relationships started with building trust from the very first phone call. If I didn't have the services they needed, I referred them to people who did. This is just good business!

    • Couldn't agree more! Building trust is huge. Especially when so little business is done face-to-face anymore. I actually just had it happen again this morning with the same result. She said she wanted to work with us down the road! You can't go wrong with this approach.

  • Great points, Travis! It really makes everything run smoother when you're completely transparent and honest with the (potential) client. People really appreciate when you're straight up with them and when you give them good direction. And, when people appreciate you and your honesty, completely free word-of-mouth advertising takes place!
